Dinner with Artists

Today my professor Sandra had invited the whole class to come to her sweet little house for dinner after our last class that happened today. The dinner was delicious! And her house is as interesting as the artist herself! Everything she owns has it's own story and I knew that whatever object I asked her about would have a tale all its own: and it did without fail!
I didn't get a picture of the outside of the front door, but it was beautiful and complete with a large acorn door knocker! Sandra's house had a beautiful hedge outside it and Delilahs bursting out from the wooden fence that separates her yard from her neighbor. This is the front door looking from the inside.

This is Sandra's lovely bedroom and her beautiful 19 year old cat Winny.

This is the front room.

Here is some detail of the wall art in the front room.

Sandra's studio.

This is a beautiful wooden mirror in her studio by her loom.

This is her lovely bathroom.

There was something very satisfying to wash my hands in this sink. I don't know if it was the whole atmosphere of the bathroom, the graceful slope of the sink basin or the wonderful homemade creamy soap with plant bits in it. But whatever it was, I don't feel like I have ever had such a wonderful hand washing experience! In fact I re-washed my hands, I mean really, you can never be too cautious about germs after all!

The lattice work all around the back deck, where we ate the appetizers while waiting for the chicken!

We all worked together to get everything ready for dinner!

I helped out mostly with making this watermelon, mint, pistachio, feta, fresh garden greens, heirloom tomato salad with balsamic vinegar and maple syrup dressing! It was amazing! I did wonder a bit about the combination, but it all worked together  beautifully!

The seafood dip with sliced avocado and cucumber (topped with fresh pepper) with whole grain crackers, we had for an appetizer!

This was the fruit crisp before it went into the oven!

The table was set and waiting for us to arrive!

The amazing dinner! The most beautiful BBQ ginger beer chicken, salad and fresh potato salad!

We finished with a wonderful hot fruit crisp with cream on top!

After dinner we were entertained by Greta playing the violin in the sitting room!

In the sitting room were fresh flowers, which could be smelled from anywhere in the house!

This was my favorite wool cushion in the sitting room :)

On the drive to Sandra's house we saw this fog, like low clouds over the harbor.

This is the thankyou note I gave to Sandra for being such an inspiration to me. The photo is of a thank you note we wrote together with rocks, as a thank you to a artist who transformed an empty lot in the city.

The back of the envelope I made (complete with a little shell button).

This is the front of the envelope, on which I stitched a small piece I made. She really enjoyed it! I knew that she would and that is why I had to put the effort in. And that is all that I could have asked for :)
